Ron Alting was born and raised in Lafayette to middle-class parents who both worked in local factories. It was from them and his grandparents that he learned the values of hard work, integrity, and personal responsibility. His involvement in church and various sports helped shape him, developing strong leadership skills that were recognized at an early age. From these experiences, Ron developed a sincere desire to help others and give back to his community.
A successful small business owner who is active in the Lafayette community, Ron continued his commitment to service by running for and winning a seat on the city council, where he worked hard to craft policy that was good for both the citizens of Lafayette and for local businesses. After serving for several years on the council, Ron ran for the state senate, where he continues his pledge to represent Hoosiers with honesty and integrity. Ron is recognized for his work in the senate on behalf of Hoosier veterans and for his dedication to limited government, low taxes, and protection of our constitutional rights.
As your state senator, Ron voted for the largest tax cut in state history, and he continues fighting to uphold our conservative values and lessen the burden of government on hard working Hoosiers. He knows our children are the future leaders of our state, and he will continue championing policies that provide a world-class education for all. Ron, who now lives in Carroll County, is committed to ensuring Indiana is a great state to live and work for his children, grandchildren, and all Hoosiers.
